Decadent Choc Maca Hedgehog Slices


  • • 1/2 cup coconut butter, melted
  • • 1/4 cup favourite nut butter (I like almond or peanut)
  • • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • • 2 tbsp maca root powder
  • • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or coconut nectar
  • • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • • pinch of pink or fine grain salt
  • • 3/4 cup raw walnuts, roughly chopped


  1. Combine all ingredients (except the walnuts) in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth

  2. Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl & stir in the walnuts

  3. Line a large square loaf pan with baking paper

  4. Scoop the mixture into the pan and spread out until even

  5. Sprinkle with some desiccated coconut, cacao nibs or extra nuts and pop in the freezer for an hour or until solid (or pop in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until a blunt knife comes out clean - if you’d like to be able to enjoy as a lunch box snack as it won’t require refrigeration). Remove from pan, slice into your desired serving size and enjoy

  6. Large baking pan worth (about 12 depending on desired serving size)

  7. Time taken: approximately 5 minutes to prepare, 1-2 hrs to set or 15 mins for the baked option
