Homemade Falafels
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups - chickpeas (dried raw)
- 1/2 cup - fresh chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup - fresh chopped coriander
- 1/4 cup - chopped white onion
- 2 cloves - garlic, minced
- 2 tsp- ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp- ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp- paprika
- 1 tsp- salt
- 1/4 tsp- baking powder
- 1/2 tsp- lemon zest
- 1/4 cup - sesame seeds
- method
- 1.soak your chickpeas overnight or until doubled in size
- 3. drain, rinse and dry your soaked chickpeas
- 5.make the falafels into balls and flatten slightly so they can bake evenly.
- 7. obviously you can pan fry or air fry for a crunchier falafel
Preparation
Soak your chickpeas overnight or until doubled in size
Preheat your oven to 375f
Drain, rinse and dry your soaked chickpeas
Simply pulse all the ingredients in your food processor (not the sesame seeds)- don’t blend until smooth
Make the falafels into balls and flatten slightly so they can bake evenly
Coat falafels in sesame seeds and then refrigerate for 30 minutes (or longer) before cooking
Lightly coat your baking tray with oil and also brush a little oil onto your falafels to ensure they turn golden brown
Cook in the oven for 20 minutes until golden and serve up hot and fresh
Obviously you can pan fry or air fry for a crunchier falafel
To make this delicious tahini sauce- simply mix 1/4 cup tahini, 1/4 cup yoghurt (any), 1 clove garlic (minced), squeeze lemon, 1/4 tsp
