Bagel Seasoning


  • 2 tbsp. white sesame seeds ⁠
  • 2 tbsp. black sesame seeds ⁠
  • 2 tbsp. poppy seeds ⁠
  • 2 tbsp. dried minced garlic ⁠
  • 2 tbsp. dried minced onion⁠


  1. Add white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, and onion to a small jar; place lid on jar

  2. Shake to combine

  3. Store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months

  4. Store-bought seasoning blends can contain a lot of salt — this recipe lets you make the same delicious topping for bagels, vegetables, eggs, and more without the added sodium

  5. If you like a little salt, ilana recommends adding up to 1 tsp

  6. Of good flaked sea salt or kosher salt
