Steamed Bao Buns

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm soy milk ( i used mylk labs from @floria_tradingbh )
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3 + 1 tablespoons sesame oil ( or any oil)
  • bonsan jackfruit filling ( from @marketplace.lw)

Preparation

  1. Mix warm milk ( must be warm ) with 1 tablespoon sugar and yeast

  2. Set aside for 10 minutes

  3. Mix remaining ingredients except 1 tablespoon sesame oil and filling

  4. Knead for 5-6 minutes then let rest for 1-2 hours

  5. Divide dough as desired ( makes about 16 small or 8 large balls ) and roll into balls

  6. Shape as desired ( either fill the balls or roll into bao buns and place on baking paper)

  7. Steam in hot steamer for 15 minutes and enjoy
