Green Apple Pecan Galette

Ingredients

  • 1/2 recipe of the crust with the addition of 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 2 small green apples, peeled and cut into 1/4” slices (approximately 21/2 cups)
  • 1 t fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 T arrowroot flour
  • 1/4 c chopped pecans (optioinal)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T water
  • 2 T grass-fed butter

Preparation

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400°

  2. Whisk together egg & water for egg wash

  3. Prepare half recipe of crust

  4. Combine apples, lemon juice, vanilla, spices, pecans & salt in a bowl & stir til combined

  5. Add arrowroot & stir to coat

  6. Roll crust out between parchment to aprx 12-13

  7. Slide into baking sheet, remove top layer of parchment

  8. Spoon apple mixture to the middle, mounding slightly

  9. Use parchment to lift crust around apples

  10. Dollop with cut up butter, egg wash the edges, sprinkle with more cinnamon & bake for aprx 45 minutes - checking crust around 30 mins and covering it if it's getting too brown

  11. Apples will be fork tender when done

  12. Eat warm or cold
