Chai Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 tbspn assam loose leaf black tea (or use a tea bag)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of gingerbread (epicure) spice or plain ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 piece of star anise
  • 3 cardamom pods opened
  • a few strips of grated orange rind
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey (or more)
  • 1/4 cup of milk of choice
  • 3 cups water

Preparation

  1. Grind any whole spices in a mortar and pestle. Add the water to a pot and bring to a boil, add in spices, simmer for 5-10 minutes then add the tea to the boiling mix. Steep another few minutes

  2. Strain tea and add milk
