Ingredients

  • Two homemade vegan burger patties (using seitan burger recipe)

  • Cucumber
  • Jalapeno
  • Coleslaw
  • Dragon Sauce (see recipe below)
  • Vegan buns (e.g., @pretzilla)
  • Fire (for presentation)

Dragon Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger (@the_ginger_people)
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons tahini (or peanut butter)
  • 3-6 tablespoons water (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or aminos)

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Dragon Sauce by blending the following ingredients together: sesame oil, lime juice, minced garlic, minced ginger, nutritional yeast, maple syrup, tahini (or peanut butter), water, and soy sauce. Blend until smooth. This sauce can be stored in the fridge and used as needed.

  2. Grill or cook the homemade vegan burger patties according to your preference.

  3. Assemble the burger: Start with the vegan buns as the base. Place the cooked burger patties on the buns.

  4. Top the patties with vegan American cheese to melt slightly.

  5. Add slices of garden tomato and cucumber for freshness.

  6. For some heat, include slices of jalapeno.

  7. Add a generous portion of coleslaw for crunch and texture.

  8. Drizzle the Dragon Sauce over the burger for an explosion of flavors.
