Glazed Sweet and Spicy Tofu Stir-Fry
Ingredients
- 1/2 block (7 oz/200g) super firm or extra firm tofu
- A pinch of salt and white pepper
- 1/2 tbsp neutral cooking oil (optional)
Sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp coconut aminos or light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp chili paste
- 1 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
Additional components
- Noodles of choice (like Udon)
- Mixed stir fried vegetables (like broccoli, carrots, mushroom, zucchini, scallion, garlic)
Preparation
Cut tofu into desired shape, pat dry with a kitchen or paper towel, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
Whisk together all ingredients for the sauce.
Heat up a cast iron skillet and pan fry the tofu pieces until golden for about 3-4 minutes each side, using a small drizzle of cooking oil if needed.
Lower the heat and glaze tofu with a few tablespoons of the sauce, stirring carefully until both sides are coated and caramelized.
Cook noodles according to package instructions.
Stir-fry the mixed vegetables in a pan until slightly softened.
Serve the glazed tofu over the noodle veggie stir-fry and enjoy.
