Oats and Rava Turmeric Idli with Onion Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1/2 cup of Rava
  • 1/2 cup of curd
  • 4 tsp of water
  • salt
  • little oil
  • musturd seeds
  • curry leaves
  • some grated ginger
  • roasted chana dal
  • crushed cashew pieces
  • carrots
  • fresh raw turmeric
  • chilli powder/green chillies
  • 1 tsp of eno powder

Preparation

  1. Take 1 cup of oats and grind into a powder form

  2. Roast them with 1/2 cup of Rava for about 5 min

  3. Once they are roasted mix them with 1/2 cup of curd and add 4 tsp of water

  4. Add salt as per your taste and keep it aside for 15 min

  5. In the mean time, add little oil in a pan, once it is hot add musturd seeds, chopped curry leaves, some grated ginger, roasted chana dal, crushed cashew pieces

  6. Cook them for about 2 min and then add your choice of vegetables into this tadka

  7. I only had carrots so added some grated ones here, you can add capsicum, beans, peas etc

  8. Let the vegetables cook for about 10 min till they are soft

  9. Add this tadka to your idli batter

  10. Mix it properly

  11. I added some grated fresh raw turmeric as well, you can use turmeric powder or skip it completely

  12. Add some chilli powder/green chillies as per your taste

  13. The batter should neither be thin or very thick

  14. Add water to adjust the consistency

  15. In the end, add 1 tsp of eno powder and steam them till they are cooked

  16. Serve them with chutney/ sambar
