Festive Gingerbread Recipe for Christmas Memories
Ingredients
- 150g plain flour
- 125g butter
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 2 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 4 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 egg
- 150g brown sugar (optional)
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 170°C fan/190°C.
In a bowl, combine 150g plain flour, 125g butter, 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda, 2 tsp ginger, and 1 tsp cinnamon. Rub the ingredients together until they resemble breadcrumbs.
In a separate bowl, mix 4 tbsp golden syrup with 1 egg. Optionally, add 150g brown sugar to the mixture.
Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to form a dough.
Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes.
Place the cutouts on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
Decorate the gingerbread with icing or other festive decorations if desired.
