Chocolate and Orange Tart

Ingredients

Base

  • 80g raw macadamia (soaked in water for 2hrs)
  • 40g walnut (soaked in water for 2hrs)
  • 2 tbs cacao powder
  • 2 tbs melted coconut oil
  • 100g dates, pitted
  • Pinch of salt flakes

Chocolate layer

  • 100g raw macadamia (soaked in water for 2hrs)
  • 1/2 c coconut cream
  • 1/4 c coconut oil
  • 1/3 c maple syrup
  • 2 tbs + 2 tsp cacao powder
  • Pinch of salt flakes

Orange layer

  • 100g raw macadamia (soaked in water for 2hrs)
  • 1/2 c fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 c maple syrup
  • 1/4 c coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tbs dehydrated orange processed into powder (about 4 slices)
  • Pinch of salt flakes

Preparation

  1. For the base: drain soaked macadamia and walnut and combine with all other ingredients for the base in a high power food processor or blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Pour and spread mixture into a tart tin and press the mixture firmly against the sides and bottom of the tin and then place in the fridge.

  3. Chocolate layer: Drain soaked macadamia and place with all other ingredients of the chocolate layer into a high power food processor or blender and blend until smooth and well combined. Pour the chocolate over the base and freeze it until it sets.

  4. Orange layer: Drain soaked macadamia and place with all other ingredients of the orange layer into a high power food processor or blender and blend until smooth and well combined. Pour mixture over the chocolate layer.

  5. Decorate the top with dehydrated orange slices and place in fridge to set overnight, or freeze to set for at least 2 hours then place back in the fridge to be ready for serving.
