Pan-Fried Steamed Vegetable Buns
Ingredients
Dough
- 300 g [~2 1/2 cups] all-purpose flour
- 175 ml [3/4 cup] hot water
- a pinch of salt
Filling
- 1/2 lb [250g] green beans
- 14 oz [397g] firm tofu
- 1 small carrot
- a handful of cilantro
- 3 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
Preparation
Mix all dough ingredients together, knead into a dough, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 10 portions and roll each into a 4-5 inch circular disk.
Mix all filling ingredients until well-combined and mold into 10 patties.
Place a filling patty in the middle of a dough wrapper and pleat to seal.
Dip the smooth side in water and then in sesame seeds.
In a heated non-stick pan with oil, pan-fry the sesame side until slightly brown.
Flip the bun and cook for a few seconds.
Add a cup of water, cover, and cook over low-medium heat until water evaporates and buns are cooked through.
Serve warm with a side of green onions in chili oil and soy sauce.

No yeast is needed for this recipe.
This recipe works great with any vegetables.
