Yellow Cake with Chocolate Face

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp almond extract
  • 1 cup nonfat milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 vegetable oil

Chocolate sauce

  • Equal parts chopped dark baking chocolate to butter
  • Butter (equal parts to chocolate)
  • Sugar to taste
  • Cocoa powder to thicken

Preparation

  1. Make chocolate sauce by melting equal parts dark baking chocolate and butter, then add sugar to taste and cocoa powder to thicken

  2. Preheat oven to 325°C

  3. Mix dry ingredients together: flour, salt, and baking powder

  4. Mix wet ingredients together: eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, nonfat milk, butter, and vegetable oil

  5. Combine dry and wet mixtures to form batter

  6. Pour batter into a baking pan and add chocolate sauce on top to create a face or marble effect before baking

  7. Bake at 325°C for 40 minutes.
