Homemade Macadamia Nut Milk
Ingredients
- 2 cups raw macadamias
- 3-4 cups filtered water
- pinch of salt
Optional additions
- 1 whole date, pitted (or 1 tbsp maple syrup)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1/4 cup fresh berries
Preparation
Soak the macadamias in filtered water with a pinch of sea salt for 1-2 hours, ensuring there's a couple of inches of water above the nuts as they swell.
Drain the nuts and pour them into a high-powered blender with the filtered water and any optional ingredients.
Blend until well combined and the milk looks thick, creamy, and slightly foamy.
Strain the milk using a fine mesh sieve, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth to remove the pulp.
Store the milk in a sealed glass jar in the refrigerator.
