Homemade Macadamia Nut Milk

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw macadamias
  • 3-4 cups filtered water
  • pinch of salt

Optional additions

  • 1 whole date, pitted (or 1 tbsp maple syrup)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup fresh berries

Preparation

  1. Soak the macadamias in filtered water with a pinch of sea salt for 1-2 hours, ensuring there's a couple of inches of water above the nuts as they swell.

  2. Drain the nuts and pour them into a high-powered blender with the filtered water and any optional ingredients.

  3. Blend until well combined and the milk looks thick, creamy, and slightly foamy.

  4. Strain the milk using a fine mesh sieve, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth to remove the pulp.

  5. Store the milk in a sealed glass jar in the refrigerator.
