Miso Chilli Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cups Brussels sprouts halved
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 Tbsp tamari sauce
  • 3 red salad onions
  • 1/2 cup Miso Chilli Sauce
  • Toasted black and white sesame seeds
  • 2/3 cups cooked barley (or grain of choice)

Miso chilli sauce

  • 1/3 cup hatch miso paste
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup dried ancho chillies
  • 1/4 cup tamari
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup water

Preparation

  1. Add the chilli miso sauce, 1 Tbs sesame oil, tamari, maple syrup, sea salt, garlic and ginger to a small mixing bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.

  2. Heat a large heavy bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the rest of the sesame oil and then the brussels sprouts. Season well and stir-fry until brown on all sides. Add the broccoli florets and tamari sauce and toss to combine.

  3. Once the sprouts start caramelising in the tamari add the sliced onion and the sauce and stir-fry another minute or so. Turn the heat to low and add half the water stirring well to deglaze the pan.

  4. Serve with your choice of grain and top with toasted sesame seeds.

Sauce making

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend together until smooth, adding water to thin into a paste.
