Fresh Homemade Salsa with Tomatoes and Basil

Ingredients

  • 2 heirloom tomatoes or Roma tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup red onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 6-7 basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Dice the tomatoes into small pieces.

  2. Dice the red onion into small pieces (about 1/4 cup).

  3. Dice the garlic cloves into small pieces.

  4. Chop the basil leaves finely.

  5. Combine all ingredients in a bowl: diced tomatoes, diced onion, diced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

  6. Mix everything well.

  7. Store in a closed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

  8. Serve with chips, tacos, burritos, or nachos.
