Air Fryer Spicy Orange Cauliflower Bites
Ingredients
- 1 small head cauliflower, washed and cut into florets
- oil, for cooking
- chopped green onions or cilantro, for garnish
- toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Batter
- 3/4 cup (94g) all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
- 3/4 cup (175ml) water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- white pepper, a few shakes
Sauce
- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (from 2 oranges)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup, adjust to taste
- cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch, 2 tablespoons water)
Preparation
Whisk together batter ingredients in a bowl until well combined
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (220°C)
Dredge cauliflower florets in the batter, shake off excess, and place them on the air fryer rack
Air fry until golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes
In a heated non-stick pan, pour in the orange juice along with the sauce ingredients, except the cornstarch slurry
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil and stir until the sugar has melted
Stir in the cornstarch slurry
Add the cauliflower florets and quickly toss everything together until well combined
Serve immediately with chopped green onions or cilantro and toasted sesame seeds
