Crispy Fried Tofu and Vegetable Wontons

Ingredients

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying

Filling

  • 1 block tofu
  • 1 can button mushrooms
  • 4 sweet chillies
  • 3 tbsp green onions
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp garlic flakes
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (optional)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • Salt for seasoning

Preparation

  1. Combine all the filling ingredients in a bowl.

  2. Place the wonton wrappers on a clean cutting board and fill each with 2 teaspoons of the tofu filling.

  3. Slightly wet the edges and seal them.

  4. Heat oil in a saucepan; test readiness with chopsticks (bubbles should form), then fry the wontons until golden brown and transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.

  5. Serve with chili sauce or your favorite dips.
