Homemade Hummus with Flavor Variations
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 1 16oz can of chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1 garlic clove chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Variations
- 1 fresh medium boiled beet
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 avocado
- 1 red bell pepper
Preparation
Drain and rinse the chickpeas
Place the tahini, drained chickpeas, lemon juice, cumin, salt, ground red pepper, and chopped garlic in a food processor and process until smooth.
Add the desired variation vegetable (such as boiled beet, spinach, avocado, or red bell pepper) for different taste.
Add the chopped parsley and pulse until blended.
Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl.
Optionally, sprinkle with pomegranate seeds or chili powder.
Serve with pita wedges, falafel sandwich, veggie sticks, salad, quinoa Buddha bowl, or chips.
