Homemade BBQ Tofu Skewers

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 6 dates
  • 5 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 80ml red grape juice
  • Pinch of chili
  • 100g sieved tomatoes

Skewers

  • 1 block natural tofu
  • 10 wooden or metal skewers

Preparation

  1. Chop onion, dates and garlic in small pieces

  2. Add all to a pot with oil

  3. Let glaze for a couple minutes

  4. Add in the chili and paprika powder

  5. Mix in all other ingredients

  6. Simmer for at least 10-15 minutes

  7. Puree until smooth

  8. Press the water out of the tofu with a kitchen towel

  9. Slice up the tofu in lengthwise pieces and place on the skewers

  10. Cover with the sauce on all tofu sides

  11. Grill in a pan or on a barbecue
