Homemade Vegan BBQ Ribs

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • a good pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup vegetable stock

For brushing

  • 1/2 cup bbq sauce

To serve

  • Fries
  • Roast tomatoes
  • Little pot of bbq sauce

Preparation

  1. Put all the ingredients apart from the bbq sauce in a bowl and mix together into a ball.

  2. Do not be afraid to use your hands to knead it if it is misbehaving.

  3. Place the mixture onto a lightly greased oven tray and stretch it into the desired shape; if it is a little unruly, do not be surprised.

  4. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes at 180℃ (356℉).

  5. Remove the dish, brush with the bbq sauce, and bake for a further 5 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven, cut into ribs, and serve immediately with fries, roast tomatoes, and a pot of bbq sauce for dipping.
