Easy Homemade Roti with Wholemeal Flour
Ingredients
- 450g wholemeal wheat flour/atta
- 3/4 cup of warm water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- ghee
Preparation
Add water to the bowl of flour a little at a time mixing as you go with your hand.
Add the oil and knead the dough until it’s smooth and pliable.
Cover and leave to rest for 2 hours.
Knead the dough again and roll out to a long sausage and divide and roll into 12 small balls.
Flatten each ball and dust with flour.
With a rolling pin roll out evenly into a round shape, turning the roti over often and dusting as you go.
Heat a frying pan or tawa on a medium heat until bubbles start to form in the flat bread. Turn over and heat for another minute or so until brown spots start to form.
Put the roti on a handheld wire toaster and let it puff up.
Serve hot as is or with a dollop of ghee on top.
