Vegan Cream Cheese and Scallion Wontons

Ingredients

  • 8 oz vegan chive and onion cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup scallions
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 package vegan wonton wrappers
  • Sweet and sour sauce for dipping

Preparation

  1. Scoop the cream cheese out of the container and into a bowl. Add the scallions and mix in the garlic powder. Allow it to come to room temperature. Prepare a small bowl of water to seal the wonton wrappers.

  2. Lay out 6 wonton wrappers at a time and cover the rest with a towel so they don't dry out. Place approximately 1.5 teaspoons of the cream cheese filling in the center of each wrapper. Wet the edges with water using your finger, then seal by bringing opposite sides together and overlapping the corners, adding more water to seal. Continue until all filling is used.

  3. Heat your choice of oil in a pan. Once hot, fry the wontons in batches depending on pan size, for 45-60 seconds each. Place on a towel to absorb excess oil after frying.

  4. Keep the fried wontons covered in the fridge and they will last for about 4 days.
