BBQ Waffled Tofu Vegan Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu (in water, not silken)
  • Cooking oil (for spraying waffle maker)
  • BBQ sauce (for brushing)

Preparation

  1. Slice the tofu block in half to create two thin slices.

  2. Heat your waffle maker.

  3. Spray the top and bottom of the waffle maker with oil.

  4. Place the tofu slices on the waffle maker.

  5. Close the lid and cook for 10-12 minutes.

  6. Remove the tofu and brush it with BBQ sauce.

  7. Optionally, air fry the BBQ-coated tofu at 370°F for 10 minutes for extra crispiness.

Waffling tips

  1. Waffling removes water better than pan-cooking without breaking the tofu.

  2. This method creates a combination of soft and chewy textures.

  3. No need to press the tofu beforehand.
