Our Cherry Chocolate Pop Tarts
Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup of vegan spread (we used )
- 1/4 cup and 1 tbs of ice cold filtered water
- 1/4 tsp of pink himalayan salt
- For the filling
- 1 cup of frozen pitted cherries
- 1/2 tsp of maple butter
- For the glaze
- 3/4 cup of confectioners sugar
- 1/4 cup of cacao powder
- 2 tbs of rice milk
- 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract
Preparation
In a large bowl combine all ingredients for dough
Knead until dough forms
In a small pot, on medium heat, add cherries and maple butter and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes
Set aside when finished
Preheat oven to 350°
Roll dough out onto a floured surface and cut a checkerd grid into dough making squares as evenly shaped as possible
Remove any liquids from filling and scoop with a spoon onto every other square
For every empty square use them to top every square with filling
Use a fork and press seal both squares together
Place pop tarts onto a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes
While pop tarts are in oven combine all ingredients for glaze in a small bowl and stir well
Once time is up remove pop tarts from oven
Allow 10 minutes to cool and top with glaze
