Cherry Galette


  • 12 cups pitted cherries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 grated apple with skin on
  • 4 tablespoon arrowroot starch


  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, add cherries and bring to a boil

  2. Cook 5 mins then add granulated sugar, apple and cook 10 minutes more

  3. Add the arrowroot starch with 1 tbspn cold water to form a paste

  4. Add this to cherries, sugar and apple

  5. Bring to a low boil and cook for 10 minutes

  6. Pour into sterilized jam jars and seal
