Blueberry Crumb Pie
Ingredients
- 9 inch wholly wholesome frozen pie crust
- pie filling:
- 5 cups fresh blueberries
- 1 gala apple, diced thin (i used a food processor)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- crumble topping:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the filling
Spoon the filling into the pie crust
It may seem like a lot, but it is the perfect amount of filling
Place the pie into the refrigerator while you make the crumb topping
In another large bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the crumb topping
Using a pastry cutter (or your hands), cut the cold butter into the mixture until coarse crumbs are formed
Sprinkle crumb topping over pie
Place the pie onto a large baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes
Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to prevent the crumble from browning
