Barley Porridge

Ingredients

  • barley porridge (3-4 portions)
  • 1/3 c uncooked barley
  • 1/2 c milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp maple syrup/honey
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 1 c water (+/-)

Preparation

  1. Soak barley overnight with double as much of water

  2. Next morning drain the water off, add the barley to a pot with 1c water, milk & salt

  3. With a hand mixer blend the mixture for 30sec or until most of the barley has been cut in smaller pieces

  4. Heat to a boil stirring constantly to avoid burning

  5. When boling turn down to low heat and let boil for another 25-30 minutes, stirring every 5 minute

  6. Lastly, add cinnamon & sweetener

  7. Eat it hot or store in fridge for a ‘cold’ version (just as good, maybe even better in my opinion
