Sweet and Spicy Beetroot Apple Chutney

Ingredients

  • 2 Apples - grated
  • 1 raw beetroot - grated
  • 1cm chunk ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 4 cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Preparation

  1. Temper the oil, cloves, cumin seeds, and cinnamon in a saucepan for a minute.

  2. Add all the other ingredients and cook on high heat to melt the sugar for about 5 minutes until the sugar melts.

  3. Spoon into a clean jar and store in the fridge.

Serving ideas

  1. Eat with Thepla, paratha, or as an accompaniment to any curry.

  2. Use to spice up cheese and pickle sandwiches.
