Creamy Vegan Alfredo Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegan butter
- 4 Tbsp flour
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups unsweetened plant milk (+ more if needed)
- 1 cup grated vegan parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 Tbsp vinegar (or lemon juice)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation
Melt the vegan butter in a pan over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and stir, cooking for 1 minute.
Gradually add the flour, one tablespoon at a time, whisking between each addition. Once all the flour is added, whisk thoroughly and cook for 1 more minute.
Slowly pour in the plant milk, 1/2 cup at a time, while whisking between each addition.
Stir in the nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, and vinegar. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
Bring the mixture to a low boil.
Add the grated vegan parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
If the sauce is too thick, add more plant milk in 1/4 cup increments until the desired consistency is reached.
Taste the sauce again and adjust the seasoning if needed.
Serve the creamy vegan Alfredo sauce with pasta, vegetables, or any desired accompaniments.
