Spicy Tangy Indian Plum Chutney
Ingredients
- 1 kg plums
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 2 tbsp ginger
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup jaggery or 1/2 cup raw sugar
- 4-5 Kashmiri chillies or 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
Preparation
Wash and pit the plums, then chop them into small pieces.
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chutney thickens.
Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
Transfer to sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator.
Serving suggestions
Use as a spread for sandwiches, burgers, samosas, or pakoras.
Apply as a glaze for meat dishes.
