Homemade Italian Garlic Bread with Herbs

Ingredients

  • 2 sachets dry yeast
  • 300 mL warm water
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • some fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • flour (as needed)

Preparation

  1. Mix the dry yeast with 300 mL of warm water and let it activate for a few minutes.

  2. Add 1 tablespoon of thyme, some fresh basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 garlic cloves.

  3. Stir in enough flour so that the dough can still be mixed with a spoon.

  4. Let the dough rest for one hour.

  5. Add more flour to make the dough kneadable.

  6. Transfer the dough to a mold and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  7. Set the oven to 250°C and bake for 10 minutes.

  8. Lower the oven temperature to 220°C and bake for another 10 minutes.

  9. Reduce the oven temperature to 190°C and bake for 30 minutes.

  10. Allow the bread to cool completely before cutting to prevent it from breaking.

Tips

  1. Feel free to add dried tomatoes or other herbs, but do not place them on top as they may burn.
