Vegan Meat Lovers Detroit Style Pizza
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
Toppings
- 2 cups vegan mozzarella
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- Beyond meat sausage
- homemade pepperoni
- shallots
- green olives
Preparation
Whisk together all of the dry ingredients.
Using a heavy spoon, mix in the water.
Once the dough comes together, dump it out onto a work surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth, adding more flour as needed if it sticks.
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl and cover, then let it rise for 2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 500°F.
While the oven is heating, spread 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a 9x13-inch glass baking dish.
Place the dough into the dish and press it to the edges, then cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Lightly oil your hands and press the dough to the edges of the pan again, using your fingertips to dimple it, then cover and let it rest for another 15 minutes.
Layer cheese on top of the dough, ensuring it reaches all the way to the edges.
Spread about a cup of pizza sauce on top of the cheese without evenly covering it.
Add the toppings, noting that Beyond sausage should be cooked for about 5 minutes first to remove excess oil.
Bake uncovered on the lowest rack for 20-25 minutes until there is plenty of bubbling action.
Remove from the oven and let it rest in the dish for 10 minutes.
Run a spatula along the edge to separate the cheese from the dish.
Pry up an end and carefully transfer the pizza to a cutting board by letting it slide out.
Cut and serve.
