Homemade Garlic Flatbread Delight
Ingredients
Flatbread
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup water
Garlic Butter/Margarine
- 1 and 1/2 heaped tsp margarine
- 1 tsp mixed herbs or parsley
- 1 garlic clove, grated/finely chopped
Preparation
Add the plain flour and water to a bowl and mix together until a dough is formed.
Sprinkle some flour onto a worktop and place the dough on the floured surface. Knead the dough for 5 minutes and then place it back into the bowl. Cover the bowl with a tea towel and set it aside for 15-30 minutes.
Whilst the dough is resting, make the garlic butter/margarine. Add the margarine, herbs and garlic to a little bowl and mix together.
Just before the dough is ready, pop a frying pan on the hob on a medium to high heat. Add a drizzle of oil or a knob of margarine to the pan.
Split the dough into two. Grab one of the dough pieces and start to stretch out using your hands until it is about 5-8mm thick. Place the dough into the frying pan. If your frying pan is big enough, repeat this step and add the last piece of dough into the frying pan too.
After two to three minutes, use a spatula to flip the flatbreads. Cook the other side for two to three minutes. If the flatbread isn’t quite cooked through/browned enough to your liking, keep frying on each side until the flatbread is cooked/a little browner.
Turn the heat down on the hob and spread half the garlic margarine onto each flatbread. Leave the flatbreads on the heat until the margarine has melted.
