Two Lentil Dal
Ingredients
- tomatoes: 3
- onions: 2
- ginger: 1 inch grated
- curry leaves: 3-4(optional)
- garlic: 2 cloves minced
- tomato paste: 1 t
- spinach: 3 c
- chana dal: 3/4 c cooked
- masoor dal : 1/4 c cooked ?
- whole spices:
- cumin seeds: 1 t
- mustard seeds: 1 t
- cinnamon: 1 inch
- asafoetida: 1/2 t
- spice powder:
- coriander powder: 2 t
- turmeric: 1
- red chilli: 2 t
- garam masala: 2 t
- oil: 2 t
- water: 1c
- salt to taste
Preparation
Add tomatoes and peeled onions to boiling water
Boil for 5-7 minutes
Drain and blend into a paste with the listed spice powders
Heat oil in a pan and add listed whole spices, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and tomato paste
Cook for a few minutes and add the prepared paste
Cook stirring till oil separates then add lentils and water -bring to a simmer and stir in spinach
Season as desired
