Garlic & Coriander Naan
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain or strong white bread flour (a cup is 250ml)
- 7g sachet fast yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1.5 tbsp veg oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic finely grated
- 2 handfuls fresh coriander leaves - finely chopped
Preparation
Put the warm water, sugar and yeast into a mixing bowl, give it a quick stir and leave it to activate for 5 mins
Add the remaining ingredients and combine, bring them together into a dough using your hands, then add a little flour to your hands and the kitchen top and knead the dough for 6-7 mins
Put the dough back into the bowl and cover with a clean tea towel or cellophane and set aside to rise for an hour
When the dough has risen, split into three or four portions
Melt the butter in a little pan on the hob on low, add the garlic and warm through for a couple of minutes, then stir in the coriander and turn off the heat
Set aside
To cook the naans - roll out each bread thinly on a floured top, add to a medium hot pan (4/5 on the hob) with a drizzle of oil, cook for 2 mins, then flip over and drizzle or brush some of the butter, garlic and coriander mixture over the top while the second side cooks for 2 minutes
