Golden Tofu Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of firm tofu, drained well⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery (used chinese celery)⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • 1/4 cup chopped jicama⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • 1 small carrot, chopped⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • 2.5 tablespoons tapioca starch⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • 2 teaspoons salt⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • a pinch of white pepper⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • oil for pan-frying⁣⁣⁣⁣
  • sweet chili sauce (used maeploy_kitchen brand) with chopped cilantro⁣⁣⁣⁣

Preparation

  1. Mash tofu in a bowl, if it's too wet, use a paper towel to absorb moisture. Add celery, jicama, carrot, starch, salt & white pepper to tofu & mix until well combined. Take about 2 tablespoons of mixture & mold it into a patty by passing it between your palms?? ⁣⁣⁣⁣

  2. In a heated non-stick pan, drizzle a thin layer of oil covering the pan, place patty in slowly one by one.⁣

  3. Using low-med heat, pan-fry cakes until golden brown on both sides. It's best to flip when the tofu starts to turn golden brown at the bottom. ⁣

  4. I place tofu cakes on a parchment paper while working on the rest. Parchment paper helps absorbs some moisture too. ⁣⁣

  5. To serve, wrap tofu cakes with your favorite leafy greens & dip in sweet chili sauce with a squeeze of lime juice.⁣⁣

  6. Note: chopped cilantro & sweet chili sauce is the best combo. Try it & let me know what you think,??⁣⁣
