Caramelized Apple Pie Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 50 g whole grain rolled oats
- 10 g flaxseed
- 250 ml water/milk of your choice
- Pinch of salt
- 1 apple, chopped into little cubes
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Oil (for caramelizing apples)
- Brown sugar (for caramelizing apples)
- Chopped walnuts
Preparation
In a pan, combine the whole grain rolled oats, flaxseed, water/milk, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is absorbed and the oatmeal is creamy.
While the oatmeal is cooking, heat a little oil in a separate pan and add the chopped apple cubes. Cook until the apples are caramelized and tender.
Sprinkle some brown sugar and cinnamon over the caramelized apples, tossing to coat them evenly.
Once the oatmeal is ready, stir in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Transfer the cooked oatmeal to a bowl and top it with the caramelized apple cubes.
Add chopped walnuts on top for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
