Vegan Cashew Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
- 3/4 - 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste
- 1 Tbsp harissa (or sub hot salsa, hot sauce, Ro-Tel, or 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce)
Preparation
Soak the cashews in hot water for 10-15 minutes or until soft
Drain the cashews if necessary
Add all ingredients to a blender
Blend until smooth and creamy
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed
Heat gently if desired for serving
