Spicy Korean Tofu with Marinade and Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 blocks pressed tofu
  • 3 tablespoons corn flour
  • 3 tablespoons panko
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Sesame oil for shallow frying or baking

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1/2 tablespoon xylitol or sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Preparation

  1. Cut pressed tofu into cubes and marinate overnight in the marinade ingredients.

  2. Mix corn flour, salt, and panko in a bowl. Coat each tofu piece and fry in sesame oil until crispy, or bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-30 minutes.

  3. Combine all sauce ingredients. Heat sesame oil in a pan, add the sauce mixture, cook until it simmers and thickens, then add the crispy tofu and stir to coat.
