Homemade Crunchy Spiced Kale Crisps

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of organic kale (roughly 180g)
  • approximately 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon rock salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C

  2. Line an oven tray with foil

  3. Wash the kale and drain

  4. Place the kale on the tray and add oil

  5. Massage the kale for a few seconds to ensure the oil covers all surfaces

  6. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup gram flour with 1 teaspoon each of turmeric powder, chili powder, and ground black pepper

  7. Mix this well into the kale, cleaning any residue off the tray

  8. Sprinkle rock salt to taste

  9. Ensure the kale is spread out in a single layer

  10. Place in the oven for 10 minutes

  11. Mix and cook for a further 5 minutes

  12. Remove from the oven

  13. Let the oven cool down to warm and place the tray back in with the oven off to achieve crunch

  14. Leave for desired time until crispy

  15. If crisps lose crunch, reheat in oven for 3-4 minutes
