Sticky Sesame Teriyaki Charred Cauliflower

Ingredients

Teriyaki sauce

  • 4 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gf)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 inch piece fresh ginger (optional)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Cauliflower and garnish

  • 1 small cauliflower head (use more sauce if larger)
  • 2 green onions (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • Salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven or air fryer to 400 degrees F

  2. Cut cauliflower into florets

  3. Steam cauliflower for 8 to 10 minutes until softened

  4. Place cauliflower on a baking sheet, drizzle with 1 tbsp avocado oil and a pinch of salt, and toss to coat

  5. Bake for 15 minutes until charred, or use an air fryer at 400 degrees F

  6. In a bowl, combine all teriyaki sauce ingredients except ginger and garlic

  7. In a pan over medium-low heat, add 1 tsp oil and sauté garlic and ginger for 2 minutes

  8. Reduce heat to low

  9. In a small bowl, mix 1 tsp cornstarch and 3 tbsp water

  10. Add the teriyaki sauce mixture to the pan with garlic and ginger

  11. Add the cornstarch mixture and stir

  12. Cook on low heat for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens

  13. Toss the cooked cauliflower in the sauce

  14. Serve with extra sesame seeds, green onions, and rice
