Sweet Lime Glazed Tofu

Ingredients

  • 2 blocks extra firm tofu (around 240g each)
  • 1 heaping tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp canola oil

Glaze

  • 3 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp liquid aminos
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp corn starch diluted in 1 tbsp water

Preparation

  1. Dry the tofu and cut into cubes by wrapping in towels and placing a plate on top to absorb excess liquid.

  2. Sprinkle salt on the tofu cubes, add the cornstarch, and coat well.

  3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the glaze.

  4. In a pan, heat about 1.5 tablespoons of oil and fry the tofu cubes until crisp and golden, turning as needed.

  5. Remove the tofu and sauté the onions and bell peppers in a little oil.

  6. Add the glaze ingredients except the cornstarch mixture to the pan and cook until it boils.

  7. Lower the heat, add the cornstarch diluted in water, and mix until thickened.

  8. Add the tofu back in and cook until the sauce is well incorporated.

  9. Serve with rice or noodles while hot.
