- 1 heaping tbsp corn starch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup bell pepper
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp canola oil
Glaze
- 3 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp liquid aminos
- 3 tbsp lime juice (or calamansi juice)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp water
Preparation
Press the tofu to remove excess moisture by wrapping in towels and placing a plate on top
Cut the pressed tofu into cubes
Sprinkle salt over the tofu cubes
Add corn starch and coat the tofu cubes thoroughly
Mix the maple syrup, liquid aminos, lime juice, and garlic in a bowl
Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat
Fry the tofu cubes until crisp and golden, turning occasionally
Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside
In the same pan, sauté the onions and bell peppers in a little oil until slightly softened
Add the mixed glaze ingredients to the pan, excluding the corn starch mixture
Cook the sauce until it boils, then reduce the heat
Stir in the corn starch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens
Return the tofu to the pan and cook until the sauce coats the tofu
Serve over rice or noodles
