Sweet Lime Glazed Tofu
Ingredients
- 2 blocks extra firm tofu (around 240g each)
- 1 heaping tbsp corn starch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup bell pepper
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp canola oil
Glaze
- 3 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp liquid aminos
- 3 tbsp lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tbsp corn starch diluted in 1 tbsp water
Preparation
Dry the tofu and cut into cubes by wrapping in towels and placing a plate on top until excess liquid is absorbed.
Sprinkle the salt on the tofu cubes, add the cornstarch, and coat the tofu well.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the glaze.
In a pan, heat around 1.5 tablespoons of oil and fry the tofu cubes until crisp and golden, turning as needed.
Remove the tofu and sauté the onions and bell peppers in a little oil.
Add the glaze ingredients except the cornstarch mixture to the pan.
Cook the sauce until it boils, then lower the heat and add the cornstarch mixture; mix until thick.
Add the tofu back in and cook until the sauce is well incorporated.
Serve with a bowl of rice or noodles and enjoy while hot.
