Savory Peanut Sauce with Tofu
Ingredients
Tofu
- 1 block of Extra Firm Tofu
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Nutritional Yeast
Sauce
- 1 cup Vegetable Broth
- 2 tbsp Tamari or Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
- 1 tsp Garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp Maple Syrup or Brown Sugar
- 1-2 tbsp 100% Peanut Butter, creamy
- 1 tbsp Sriracha or Chili Sauce of choice (optional)
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400°F or heat a skillet over medium heat.
Cut tofu into cubes, toss with garlic powder and nutritional yeast, then bake or fry until crispy and golden brown.
In a saucepan, combine vegetable broth, tamari, minced ginger, minced garlic, maple syrup, peanut butter, and sriracha if using; bring to a simmer.
Mix cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry, add to the sauce, and stir until thickened.
Pour the sauce over the cooked tofu and serve immediately.
