Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients
Dough
- 200 ml milk
- 50 g butter
- 450 g flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 50 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cube fresh yeast
Filling
- 50 g butter
- 130 g brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Frosting
- 100 g cream cheese
- 35 g powdered sugar
- 100 g butter
- vanilla extract or aroma
- some milk, if too firm
Preparation
Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it.
Mix all dough ingredients together and knead until smooth.
Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
Prepare the filling by mixing butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then spread it evenly over the dough.
Roll up the dough tightly and cut into individual rolls.
Place the rolls in a baking pan and let them rise again until puffy.
Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.
While baking, prepare the frosting by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and milk if needed.
Spread the frosting over the warm rolls before serving.
Tips
Mix the yeast from the center outward slowly to the edge of the bowl with the warm milk.
Instead of just spreading butter on the dough, mix the butter with the cinnamon-sugar and spread the mixture on the dough.
Take your time so the dough can rise; if you don't have a warm place, set the oven to 30 degrees Celsius and let the covered dough rest there, but not more than 30 degrees to avoid drying out.
Store the rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days; reheat in the microwave before eating.
