Cinnamon Swirl Cake with Glaze
Ingredients
Filling mixture
- 1 cup soft butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon fine cardamom
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
Cake mixture
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup fine granulated sugar
- 1.5 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Sauce
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation
Heat the oven to 180°C, use a 13x9 inch pan, grease it with butter and set aside.
For the filling mixture, in a bowl, combine butter, light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cardamom, mix well and set aside.
For the cake mixture, in a mixer bowl, add flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla, mix on medium speed for 3 minutes until smooth, scraping the bowl as needed.
Remove the mixer, gradually add the melted butter and stir gently until fully incorporated.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spoon.
Using a spoon, place portions of the filling mixture in balls on top of the cake batter, then use a knife to swirl it in gently, dividing the filling into 12 parts for even distribution.
Bake for about 40 minutes until done and golden brown, then cool for 10 minutes and spread the sauce over it.
For the sauce, in a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth, spread it on the cake, let it cool completely, and cut into 12 pieces.
