Vegan Buttermilk and Sorghum Flapjacks

Ingredients

  • 1,5 cups sorghum flour
  • 1,5 cups plant based milk (i like to use almond or organic soy for this recipe)
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted (@crede_natural_oils)
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar or pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt .

Preparation

  1. Combine dry ingredients together

  2. To make the vegan buttermilk (combine the plant based milk and apple cider vinegar together, mix + it will curdle)

  3. Add the coconut oil to the mixture and then the buttermilk

  4. Combine well and then ladle onto a non stick pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side

  5. Tahini, maple & vanilla sauce:

  6. Tbsp tahini (@ohmega_nutbutters is my fav)

  7. Tbsp pure maple syrup

  8. Tsp vanilla extract

  9. Tbsp filtered water (optional)

  10. Mix together the tahini, maple and vanilla

  11. It will become a thick caramel consistency (you can use it just like that or thin it out with water for a pouring sauce)

  12. I topped these with banana slices and toasted salted caramel coconut flakes ??
