Baked Bbq Cauliflower Wings
Ingredients
- 1 medium head cauliflower (about 5–6 cups chopped)
- 3/4 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 cup flour (i used rice flour, but all purpose works too)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 12 ounces (1 1/2 cups) barbecue sauce
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Chop the cauliflower into medium sized florets.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the salt, onion powder, garlic powder, flour and milk. Adjust the batter thickness if necessary by adding 1-2 tablespoons of milk.
Add the cauliflower to the batter and carefully mix to coat each piece.
Toss in the breadcrumbs.
Add the cauliflower to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 25 minutes, turn the oven off, then let sit for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
Add the cauliflower to a bowl and coat with the BBQ sauce, using as much as desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Because of the nature of baked cauliflower, this recipe does not store well in the fridge and should be made right before serving.
Once the sauce is added, it loses crispiness over time, so it is best enjoyed fresh.
This can be made in an air fryer following the same directions and adding sauce after cooking.
